Port of Hamina Ltd had an environmental management system in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard and Port of Kotka Ltd had a management system in accordance with both with the environment ISO 14001 and the quality ISO 9001 standards.

After certifying Hamina facilities (ISO 9001), Port of HaminaKotka Ltd's managing system consists of certified environment and quality management standards (ISO 14001, ISO 9001).

The purpose of the management systems is to continuously improve and develop the level of operations, quality and environmental protection to better serve our customers and promote the competitiveness of businesses in our area of operations.

Our environmental management system includes realising and assessing environmental impacts, planning and implementing improvements, preparing for emergencies, and ensuring that environmental impacts are monitored and communication lines are open.

By managing environmental issues systematically we can reduce the negative environmental impacts caused by the port, raise environment awareness and increase interaction between the stake holders working in the port. To ensure the functioning of the system, the whole staff must be dedicated to this and to taking environmental issues into account in every operation.
